goodness, it's been a long time since i've updated this site...last time was before i went to colorado to get married...that was quite a big event, the ceremony, the photography session, grueling, the long night of carrying on with dance, many with drink, it was tiring & it was fun...i was happy that so many people came to see KD marry in her hometown, & i was glad we'd given the DJ a CD of our favorite songs, to dance to them there, decemberists, coldplay, jayhawks, mmm...
been at my job for a month now, it's a hybrid of database administrator & editor, the training on it is slow but going along, my bike ride to & from downtown seattle is sweet compared to hellish train/bus commutes of the past, & the people here are very nice...i am hopeful that i will do this job well, stay a fair while, make those who hired me happy they did...
so finally i have gotten around this week to the work on this site that has been pending...adding this 2006 notebook, updating the notebooks archive section, both labels & links...that's one big one...second is an idea i've had for awhile to post the 'history of scriptor press' here...this book began as my master's thesis back at emerson college in boston in 1999, & has continued on, chapter by chapter, in issues of The Cenacle...it is not in final, prettied up form, but it is up & available...the prettying will come at a later time, as will additional chapters...
i expect by tomorrow morning to have added the fourth of five pages of New Songs (for Kassandra) & an updated radio page, but time is short & 'nuff for now...the new year's work has finally begun!

today updated radio page...next week my radio show celebrates its seventh year on the air, on three different stations, and located on both sides of the north american continent...a pleasing milestone, surely...
also added fourth of five pages of New Songs (for Kassandra)...only 36 poems remain to add...still working on the last poem of the series...
the year has gotten slowly out of the gate, but it's now getting along...no more travel for awhile, thankfully...i need a long stretch of habit and steadiness to get all the work pending down to a smaller heap...

finally to another wished addition to site...added XML podcast link to radio page, finally getting the radio archive connected to subscription activity...i've become a believe in podcasts more than ever given that i listen to Air America Radio while working via podcasting...so this is an exciting improvement i totally believe in...
the nation watches DC for signs of whether the Democrats can hold together for a filibuster of the Alito nomination for the Supreme Court...i wrote my two senators here in Washington State about how important this matter this is, urging them to come out against Alito, & that millions of us are watching them...
we cannot let up on this...as much as the Empire struts widely its power, it is staggering from within, from the disease of corruption, greed, disloyal to all but one's own fat wallet...we are watching, & soon we will be voting...those who would let this sold tool of the bitter little King onto the highest court in the land will not last past November...stand not warned, but aware...

in the past couple of days discovered two Scriptor Press publications on this site which had errors in them...Judih Haggai's Spirit World Restless & Scriptor Press Sampler | 3 | 2001...both PDF files have been replaced with corrected ones...
went to a doctor & got a physical checkup for the first time in ten years, been that long with health insurance...my doctor seems smart & kind, good combination...i hope to work with him to cure my little afflictions & avoid larger ones...another good bit of news, looks like i'll be hosting a literary gathering again, first time since Jellicle Guild ended in 2001, working with Seattle's ZAPP organization on that one...work is going well, just keep along & rack up the jing...the country lurches left & right nobody knowing what the next tumble will be, if one indeed is coming as many cry...

updated radio page to include information on this last weekend's 7th anniversary radio show, it ended up taking nearly 5 hours to do a 3 hour show, there were all sorts of technical problems but the good news is how people from all over pitched in help to get the broadcast up and going...sort of like raising a barn only hyperspatially, heh...

first month of the new year is done, just updated the radio page to include last weekend's show info...it was a good month of work...still working on the running late Cenacle | 56 | December 2005...already getting the Burning Man Books 2006 titles going...three radio shows broadcast...& finally finished the last poem of the New Songs (for Kassandra), called "Wedding," took 5 weeks to finish it, but it's done & along to other projects...
KD & I saw the disturbing new film by Steven Spielberg, "Munich," big dark topic that leaves one feeling small & helpless after...the Super Bowl was a dud...winter is slowly receding & strange as it seems i think many people are hopeful that this year some hope may come back, wars need not be endless, the government can be again helpful to the poor & not a paranoid, invasive corporate shill...it is possible...

updated the radio page for this weekend's coming broadcast...working on a couple of site updates, including finishing posting the New Songs (for Kassandra) series, & adding a half dozen shows to the radio page...
last weekend KD & I went down to Portland, nice weather, visited a Chinese garden, ended up late Saturday at Coffee Time Coffeehouse, my old writing joint, I've found this month that press projects, including finishing Cenacle | 56 | December 2005, have taken up a lot of recent time...
the political landscape lately is enough to make anyone crawl into the shadows & try for amnesia...cheney's got a gun...no shit...

updated the radio page for last weekend's broadcast...previously mentioned major additions are on the cusp of readiness, new issue of The Cenacle, finally, and half a dozen shows added to the radio archive, and the rest of the New Songs (for Kassandra)...expecting them all on site in the next few days...close!
work continues along, learning what it is like to be a database administrator/editor at a really large corporate concern...so far, no problems, and KD & I have health insurance at last, and money worries have abated for now...saving for a new Macintosh laptop, my first new computer buy in 6 yeats, should be happening around my birthday in april...will i hope make work on press matters more efficient and timely too...
this site approaches its 8th anniversary online...the 'net is no longer a novelty, not even a luxury in many ways...its potential for good or more of the same plays out every single day...
ermmm...something more...i have this urge to make Scriptor Press fully realize its potential, and to keep my pen scoring new lines night after night but even better...gratefulness is doing with one's good luck...doing much and often...that's what's driving me by day and night lately...do even better, make a full realization of possibility finally...

tonight added at last Cenacle | 56 | December 2005...took three months to get this one done, and foolish little things remain but the link to this new issue is on the front page...i hope to report this taske is done by night's end...
finishing this issue is part of my overall plan for 2006 of getting a lot of publishing projects made and disseminated...Cenacles, a new Scriptor Press Sampler, radio shows, several new Raibooks, more Burning Man Books, of course...a whole mess of fresh fish...
kin to that notion, king of it really, is writing more...not that i haven't and don't but there's a deep down consistency and novelty i strive for that belies number of pages or pieces...i know when i'm there, in that sweet spot of art-making, and i'm not there at the moment...
that said, i'm not far either...press & pen & musewife are my three personal priorities even as i hold that doing good toward the world is not optional beyond these...so tonight having at it again...no want to stop...

the page linking to Cenacle | 56 | April 2005 is now completed...took awhile to get the whole thing up and working properly...then i discovered there were some link problems with the earlier issues of the journal, and with some of the burning man books too...i've got most of the problems fixed though not all...
also updated radio show page to include this weekend's show...i've put my press on a schedule of sorts for 2006, projects finished every two months, and some ongoing, like this site and my radio show...if it goes well by year's end there will be many more works on this site...
working all day at the corporate monolith but i never seem to just slide into the grey mass of moving men mentality...i do the work, they pay me well, it's the deal...but within the freedom rages as always...reading this bio of e.e. cummings lately, and his times during the 1920s, writing for The Dial...and i was just riled again about the possiblity of global art connections...my idea is called labyrinthine...more on it soon...

lots of press working going on now, & finally some crops to report on...the fifth and final page of New Songs (for Kassandra)has been added to this site...finally...pleasure & happiness in having all 180 poems here, 13 months of work...a gift to my wife :)
updated radio page site, and good golly how close to adding many more archive files...it's surely been awhile, the process is slow, but it's about to happen in plenty...
steady lately, the daily job effort, the nightly pen & press pursuit, the daily high row across shoreless seas that is marriage...my goal for getting much done by my birthday in late april, all manner of publications & projects, is on course, and more to report as each one finishes...

updated the site's radio page for the show last weekend...hiatus next weekend while i travel to washington DC, for work reasons, but also a reunion after 20 years...i'm hoping that something from those other days kicks up & in...
working on other projects, my birthday in april still a great big deadline...daily effort toward it...

today is the 8th anniversary of this website & I'm pleased to report the addition of Scriptor Press Sampler | 7 | 2005 Annual, just completed tonight, oh about five minutes ago...this is really good news as it keeps Scriptor Press's road map for 2006 on track still...
going to DC tomorrow for a job-related training...not been there in 20 years...maybe find something new & old to please while seeing the cherry blossoms & so forth...

tonight updated last weekend's radio page...also fixed some text in an entry from 2005 soulard's online notebooks...i was reading it because i'm deeping into the making of Cenacle / 57 / April 2006, the first issue of this year, and the 11th anniversary issue to boot...one of its features is a review of Scriptpor Press from 2005, adding now annually to the accumulating history of the press, begun as my master's thesis back in late 1999 at emerson college in boston, another world...it carries on in ways like this one...
soon will be uploading half a dozen shows to the radio page archives...and the new cenacle...and working toward making a second book of my poems, to be called Resurrection, Now...gunning toward my birthday at month's end for the finish of the issue and the book...it will be tight...other projects in the works include Burning Man Books 2006, and the possibility of a sequel to the long-gone, 5 years now, Jellicle Literary Guild...an idea still fermenting...don't know if it will really happen but it might...
the rats are running for the exit as the dusty lights of justice shine 'round for them in DC...the world the fascist motherfuckers ruled is fading fast, their lies, their abuses, the millions they stole and thousands they killed and countless they hurt are coming to the upper hand again, for awhile...the bastards fouling the world's air never leave for good, simply retreat and reassemble to emerge again with a bright new set of sucking lies...but it's good to see the little king on the defensive every day, and watch his minions rat each other out...sweet as pie to see these phoney men and women, their cries to god and heaven exposed as hypocracy on every level, cutting deals, slinking off, good fucking riddance every last one of them who have exploited the pain, the vulnerability, the hope and the trust of their fellow creatures...

Later this week I am going to be placing an order at Apple.com for a Mac Book Pro, the new laptop they just released...it's been five years since I bought my G4 desktop tower computer, and it is a good machine, still going along...but now I'll be able to do my work out in the world too, and have an excellent reference, publishing, and communication tool at hand...I am pretty excited since I've been saving up for over a year, my fund going up and down with the fortunes of my current job...I have the cash and am going to do it now no more wait...
updated the site's radio page, keeping up with that though late every week it seems...work on Cenacle / 57 / April 2006 continues, as does work on my planned book of poems, Resurrection, Now, my first since 1998, I think it was...also work on radio archive is nearing fruition again, always nearing it seems...as, slowly, does progress continue on this year's Burning Man Books...so many projects, I pretty much work for the jing by day and for Art every other waking hour...tired sometimes but feeling like a hump is being nearly crossed...
and just today the little King had to dump more bodies off his sinking ship of state, so lovely to behold these criminal fucks try to appear upright and larger than life still when in truth they are the world's greatest embarrassment and few weep as one by one they go over the plank and hit the water...more to come, looks pretty certain...

using my new Mac Book Pro, Eurydice, updated the site's radio page, on time even...otherwise I've been working on Cenacle | 57 | April 2006... it's late but it's coming along...keeping this entry brief, I've not done enough work to have much to say...yet...I started writing 32 years ago today, with a slender little journal I've kept ever since...there's a promise in that I need to keep...

updated radio page this morning, still keeping on time with it, though my attention has not been much on this site lately, as the endless finishing of Cenacle | 57 | April 2006 goes on...I'm hopeful that by weekend's close the task will be doneï¿1⁄2...
work, and work more, that's how I see it...hoping toward more caught up projects and sooner than later for Burning Man 2006...I have a belief in this pursuit...that it matters...so keeping along...

this weekend finally finished the long, long process of completing Cenacle | 57 | April 2006...eleventh anniversary issue...and now it's on this site too in PDF format...it was a hard go, the time & the details & refusing to let it out the door until it was done, but tis, and it looks pretty good, and the contents are fine, which is to say I value and believe in them...
Cenacle 57 contents include:
***New Songs (for Kassandra): poems by Raymond Soulard, Jr.
***Pixies' Lament: fiction by G. C. Dillon
***A Brief Epistolary Prolegomenon: prose by Ric Amante
***Two Vessels, a fixtion trilogy by Raymond Soulard, Jr.
***Poetry by (SPF's own!) Judih Haggai
***The Myth of Sisyphus: reprint of famous essay by Albert Camus
***The Mysteries of Eleusis: passage from the autobiography of Albert Hofmann
I also updated, late, the radio page, now off DJ'ing for a couple of weeks...next weekend KD & I are going to a music fest, first one for her, and first one for me in a long while...camping & music, looks to be lots of fun...other than that, my pen is aching me to write for awhile and stop fucking editing 24/7, heh, ok, that is what I need to do, the editing, the press, all of it, means nothing without lively, constant pen...this might be the last entry until june, and if so, it means the second page of this 2006 online journal will commence with next site update...

running way behind on updating radio page, getting to last weekend's show hardly ten hours before this weekend's...I've been productive in other ways this month, however, writing a lot of new fixtion & poetry, & several publishing projects in the works...this past week especially a groove not often had of late, but discovered again, writing the simple combination of talent & persistence...well, maybe not quite that simple, heh...
my job goes steady & I am working on a comfortable place for it in my psyche, a paycheck, yes, a good one, yes, & healthcare for me & KD in a time when too many people worry too much about paying for it, yes & yes, but also thinking months along & a desire to make it mobile, long-distance, work where I am, laptop going at it, instead of an office environment that is grey & dulling...but that won't happen unless I keep along, day by day, mastering a thousand different little skills & bits of knowledge, & finding breathless connections...my intent is to do it convincingly well enough that where I live won't matter much as long as I am five days daily to the task...
the world shambles on in blood & pollution & I have come to believe that the fall 2006 U.S. congressional elections are going to be as big a turning point as I have seen in my lifetime...the War, or rather the Conquest & Occupation, begins to end then or not for a long time to come...Bush* and his cabal of evil fascist fucks don't ever intend to leave Iraq nor let it have its sovereignty in government or in oil...what happens this November will confirm this iniquitous path, the dismantling of the Constitution, the disrespect for the dignity of individuals, or it will damn it out the door...right now I am mildly hopeful as I do not see Emperor Puppet or his handlers doing anything to appease anyone in their lustful arrogance that they will win & win again...it's a dangerous time...I will be on the front lines this fall, whether we win & begin to rebuild, or lose & begin to re-think everything, the best & the worst...more soon...

last entry for jan-june 2006 notebook...first update is radio page, last weekend's show...ho-hum, another late update...second update is more interesting, on the No Borders Bookstore page, uploading a Burning Man Books 1999-2005 zip file to replace the 1999-2004 file that has sat there for a very long time...still uploading at this moment, some technical problems, but it will be done by the end of the night...
end of 2006's first half, the world near & far is still around, there's a usual slather of hope warring a slough of fear...this country seems to be creeping back to some less bloated monster's form, the November elections will confirm this or not...I've done a lot of work these past few months...Burning Man 2006 has begun its annual summer's owning of my time & energy, and eventually KD's too as she becomes more necessarily involved...eighth year going...hoping for maybe something to confirm our continued need to be there, not anything life-shattering, but some sense that we belong there for more than sentiment's sake...that seems it for the moment...more in awhile...
