another year, the real millennium finally begins, some say anyway...beginning this morning the revamping of this site...concentrating on organization and look over new content...but new content is most certainly coming too...
first thing is to add 'soulard's online notebook 2001' and to change the titles of the previous year's notebooks from 'from soulard's online notebooks' to 'soulard's online notebook'...second thing now done is revamping front page...dropped from table of contents is *MLS Online* & Burning Man 2001...and the listing is now much more orderly...soulard's notebooks, poetry, fiction, & links...third thing done is to put dividing lines between these various categories...page looks damn sight better than previous and gives me sense of what it has and does not have...finally, i'm going to double-check links on literary links page and add steamshovel press...good start to year so much more to come...
it's near noon and i've just made a major overhaul on literary links page...gone are the intro & links to Agni, Apples & Oranges, Ariga:Visions, A Room Without Walls, Bridge Collective, Flashpoint, Missouri Review, Moonshade, Poets Corner, Poets Edge, Poetry Hi-Fi, & Recursive Angel...what remains is a short list of sites that still exist & fit the evolving spirit of this site...plus added steamshovel press...the litlinks page is now much more in line with rest of site, and eventually will grow lengthier as new sites are discovered...
ok now it's 2:48 pm and i've added SeeThru.com/Drugs to psychedelic links...another great site for info...more soon i'm sure...

friday night was wonderful...i sat in the westin hotel lounge in a big armchair near a fire and caught up my journal and arrived into the new year finally...yesterday was kind of a fun waste with a friend...today the news is that my radio show, 'the within's within: scenes from the psychedelic revolution' is going to be webcast...allston-brighton free radio is finally on the internet! yahoo!! the address to go to is www.abfreeradio.org and there is a webcast link there...i'm hoping i do the kind of vast and lengthy work today that i did on friday...
cuz you see i was out sick from work 3 straight days...a cold and ennui combined...and i don't want to feel that lousy again for as long as i can help it...and i know that even some work is worlds better than no work...so begun this day removing hunger site link from main page here...sadly, it is no longer active...
and one idea that did come out of yesterdays drunken blur was that the contemporary underground culture wants for its poets and orators...we have music a-plenty thank goodness...but we need the powerfully written and spoken words other times had...we need our kings and our kennedys...i believe this lack is not through absence of great word wizards but more through lack of connection between these persons and the various communities in the underground...i see it as part of my purpose to find them and get their words spread to those that need them...so i guess yesterday was not a complete loss...and i did get to introduce my friend amante to my beloved erika...they had a fine little chat online...
more anon...in the meantime consider me continuing to get my shit together ;)

this morning's effort has been about continuing to double-check links and cleaning up and variously updating various places on site...
on the boston page changed text font color to white and added update to allston-brighton free radio entry...also double-checked other links on that page and nice'd up page a bit...
an exciting piece of news to report: as of yesterday this site is featured as a url/contact at www.lycaeum.org, one of the premiere online psychedelic communities...thanks to alex at lycaeum for making this happen :)
goodness do i love art and publishing and the work involved doing them to highest degree i'm capable of...trying always anyway ;)

on then to the fourth year of this site...this morning added napster to psychedelic links page...napster in its way is one of the most revolutionary entities on the internet for it challenges traditional hierarchical ideas of the distribution of art...there are those who would like to see all music sharing sites on the internet closed down, feel that art is commodity to be regulated and controlled by a few...my view is that napster and its kind will win out sooner or later...not easily, nor bloodlessly...but nonetheless...more later...

much activity on the psychedelic links page...fixed hyperreal link now works fine...added four new links: the deoxyribonucleic hyperdimension; pill reports (thanks to hans for this one); the resonance project; & do it now...all these are good sites...this page now has most of the major sites on the net, the ones that most psychedelic sites mention...so good then...and spring is coming slowly...good then :)

added bohemian ink to literary links website...this page slowly growing again...what i've learned about links pages is that they should be focussed, not huge, and contain sites the editor truly endorses...longer is not better...
forgot to tell that about a month ago purchased a G4 Macintosh with a scanner and a cd burner and lots of memory and all that...2700 bucks most of my savings...but i'm sure will justify itself more than any dollar figure...to have a truly autonomous desktop publishing setup at my home and homes to come has long been a goal of scriptor press's...it's closer to reality now than ever before...have added quarkxpress, photoshop, acrobat, & ms office to the mix, and soon dreamweaver...exciting times for certain...
but more than just having the machinery and software is to use it to its capacity...i am still a novice in the area of desktop publishing and so these powerful progams in my possession go untapped for the most part...to learn to drive them better...ahhh...there's the big big goal for many moons to come...
lastly, on a personal note, it's been about six months i've known leni russell...there was a time when we weren't even in contact muchless anything else...but we're back to being friends again...not knowing what's to come with that...but hopeful right now :)
more soon, kidz ;)
11:37 a.m.
ok, double-checked links on literary links page...all still active...and added FreeArcade.com to psychedelic links page...fun site...and try out some of the games when in a state of accelerated consciousness...hehehe...

added 'diary of a psychonaut' and 'essential psychedelic guide' to 'feed your head' links page...the list of links on this page is getting decently lengthy...so there's this new girl in my life who came back in truth from months ago, and she is far away, and we are only twined in cyberspace, so far, so what does it mean or will come? dunno...i love her...her name is elena...i call her leni..she means a lot to me...hope i write about her ongoingly here and elsewhere...time will telllllllllllll ;)

added tompaine.com to psychedelic links page...one great thing about internet is the way radical, underground, non-mainstream sites can compete for attention with the big dogs...hehe...

for the past few days i've been working on a brand new project, a webcast hosted by www.live365.com, the same place that broadcasts allston-brighton free radio, the station in boston where i do my 'within's within: scenes from the psychedelic revolution' show...this webcast is called 'radio lucy--scenes from the psychedelic revolution' and it is on the main page of this site...it's cool, over 7 hours of music at this point...beatles, phish, radiohead, traffic, pink floyd, doors, among many others...go listen! ;)

added the rhodium drug synthesis archive and the text of albert hofmann's "lsd, my problem child" to psychedelic links...had to do this, to keep my spirits up, because i got some bad news yesterday...harvard gave me two weeks's notice...fuck them hard...not because i deserve to be let go but because of convoluted bureaucratic conflicts...one department against another...and it's only me who really suffers...ahh well...jobhunting now...readying for the hopes and despairs to come..more soon...

just took a good piss before typing this entry...ahhhh...so now day 4 of job crisis...i've been sending out resumes...and trying to keep most of my usually-kinda-upbeat personality intact...the new link on the psychedelic links page, the lila project, is the result of my getting to know a fellow named (or nicknamed) sun at the lycaeum forums...his site looks really good...lots of content...unlike too many sites, this one included, which suffer from being simply bags of links...frustrating...hoping to deal with this finally soon...got dreamweaver website building program from net...maybe that will help...lotta people have been very supportive the past few days...and fuck if i dont want to leave this whole period behind...too much to do to sit here drowning in this foolishness...but things move along as they do...radio lucy is going along well...have decided to leave current playlist going for a few days...it's a good list...over 6 hours of music...radiohead, pink floyd, beatles, harry chapin, chemical brothers, steely dan, doors, among others...anyway...just hanging in...keeping the fuck at things...sigh...

job ended last friday...no fanfare tho the people i work with did make a present to me of ann rice's interview with a vampire trilogy...because i'd made mention that i'd been reading stephen king and enjoying his work lately...ahh well...i was kinda dazed for some days...even going down to CT to visit old friends didn't bring me out of it...i was having fun but also between two worlds...one is somewhat defined by one's job and one's home...i had no job anymore...and no immediate prospects...thus it was during trip to CT and coming back...
then on monday my friend barbara called me with good news...she offered me freelance copyediting work at the univ of south carolina press where she is managing editor...suddenly things seemed hopeful again...and yesterday another job came up, one for which i am going to interview next wednesday...nothing sure but a chance...more on it if anything happens...
i've been homebound since monday night save for a trip to grocery store to stock up...i was down to a handful of rice...hehe...and i've not been writing all that much either...but the sludge is clearing...i've stayed on puter a lot this week...but more now about getting off it than anything else..
so next week i start copyediting job when i get first manuscript in mail...go to interview see what happens with that...this week has been transition...i'm ready to get back to work, the kind i do for pay, and my Art as well...
today a start at that new life...official launch of radio lucy deux--scenes from the psychedelic revolution at sonicnet.com...i pick the artists and genres, they pick the songs and order the playlist...beginning today with 160 artists from a vast database...have posted both radio lucy links on main page here and on psychedelic links page...also posted on main page the link for my radio show, "the within's within:scenes from the psychedelic revolution w/soulard" broadcast sundays 5-8 pm EST on Allston-Brighton Free Radio
also added to psychedelic links Hippyland, a very good site for countercultural activities and community...forums, chatroom, information...well worth visiting....
so a longer entry here than usual to say that while the work at harvard paid well and i took full advantage of being there, it burnt me out and then discarded me...i'm glad to have moved on...relieved that i've scored some work...eager to get the fuck on with things and try to live a better life in many ways...i still sleep alone...i don't live where i wish to live...my life outside cyberspace is still way too lonely and solitary...but i think things are getting better...they have for awhile...the valleys smaller, the hillers larger...nuff for now ;)

added blue honey, art bell show, and spirit plants to psychedelic links...first new work on site in a month...
it's been a long month, mostly spent in a tiny apartment...i'm trying to come out of funk, get a new home as bastard landlord jacking my rent, trying to get a life beyond tv and puter...my art has been good but there is more...has to be...art will not flourish in a mind drought...more soon...
